On January 2, 2013, our BooBoo-mir photo was picked as the Fan of the Week on The Hobbit Facebook site. We are very honored to have been selected and overwhelmed by the positive feedback from the fans. Thank so much everyone!!!
Boromir is one of our favorite characters in the Lord of the Rings movies and we just had to do this costume. We loved the colors, details and accessories of the original costume and we had never done anything with this many garments or weapons before. It’s a very intimidating costume! Our BooBoo-mir (Blue, a.k.a. BooBoo, dressed as Boromir) costume was not the first piece in The Pugs of Middle Earth series, but it was a big turning point for us in terms of taking on more challenging costumes.
One of the most challenging things about this costume is finding the materials in the right colors. We started with the shield and horn for the costume in March of 2012. We worked on 2 other costumes lines (Carlino Couture and Pugs of Summer) in between the Boromir costume because it took us months before we found something for the inside shirt. The final fitting for the BooBoo-mir costume was done on 8-29-12, followed by studio shots on 9-3-12 and location shots on 6-3-13. We were very pleased that Blue loves wearing his Boromir inspired costume and that the accessories did not bother him at all.
Completing this costume gave us the confidence to take on challenging projects rather than pass on them. There are many things we would do differently on our Boromir inspired costume now that we have experimented with different materials and techniques but it is still one of our all-time favorite costumes we have done for the pugs.
In September of 2014, BooBoo-mir (plus Bono-mir and BooBoo the Grey) was included in the book Pugs in Costumes…a cute little book featuring a lot of adorable/funny photos of pugs in their costumes.
