Hall of Faces
We’re very excited to be working on another Pugs of Westeros project. This time, it’s Arya Stark and Jaqen H’ghar in a Hall of Faces scene. Although both costumes have some time consuming detail work, the background will take the longest to finish. In fact, this project when completed will be the most time we spent on a single photo series.
As of today (June 12, 2016), both costumes are completed (see photo above) and we have done test shots and fittings. We have also done test shots of the candles that we will use (see photo above). We are about 2/3 of the way through the wall/pillar construction but are very motivated to try to finish this project as soon as possible.
Initially we discussed different ways to go about creating the wall/pillar. We thought about photoshopping the pug faces but decided against that since we wanted to try to do a short video clip and that is a difficult post-editing technique not yet mastered. We also considered creating plaster of paris molds to reproduce a lot of pug heads. But in the end we decided to sculpt 27 individual pug heads so that each had a unique look…and we would apply dramatic lighting to further enhance the effect. Since we wanted 27 unique pug faces, we did gather inspiration from pugs we know and some we found on the internet (perhaps some faces may look a little familiar to you). As of today (June 12, 2016), all of the pug heads are ready (see photo above). We are currently constructing the details that go between the heads (see photo above). The final part will be the wall/pillar.
We will update this blog entry as we go along…
